Moms for A Beautiful 10th St

A few years,  under the radar an initiative started,  “Moms for A Beautiful 10th St”. It was never meant to be a group, but an idea. A joint focus for RPNA’s safety and beautification programs. A safe and  pleasant street for all.

Friday March 30th was a day of ‘action’ where neighborhood leaders were on 10th Street chatting with those walking by. All participated by writing names of women who have empowered them on tags, which were then placed on our 10th St. trees. And, for those who came by a personal alarm. Just one more way to take action, “Be Vigilant, Not Vulnerable”. We had lots of media coverage. An article in LB Post which included some important information regarding crime along this boulevard. We had Spanish language EstrellaTV and the Signal Tribune sent a reporter. Many around our city are very interested in the safe space idea. And Rose Park with its adjacent neighborhoods along 10th St.: Willlard Neighborhood, AOC7, North Pine.

This is built on other RPNA actions such as the Light Our Night initiative, now with 65 motion sensitive solar powered lights and our kitchen table discussions, such as Neighborhood and Empathy.

We have much more work to do. Thank you Devin Ablard, who made the donation for the personal alarms. And Jeannine, Karla, Leanna, Danielle, Sandra and Mary all leaders and role models. Jubilee and Bennett our next generation, who don’t understand why others ‘don’t get it’. And thank you Richard for taking our RPNA footage!

We have many photos but here is our welcoming team “tagging trees”. Walk 10th St. west of Temple and check it out!!
