Have you ever wondered about your neighbors, who they are, what they do for a living or even perhaps what their names are? There is one sure-fire way to find out: go introduce yourself!
It’s amazing what a difference it can make in your neighborhood by simply getting to know the folks to the right or left of you.
Here are some tips on how to get to know the ones that share a fence or even a wall with you:
Introduction. Wait until the time is appropriate. You don’t want to catch them while their arms are full of groceries or when they are running down the street.
When you see your neighbors, and the time is appears to be convenient for them, say hello and make sure you introduce yourself, otherwise you will just get a “hello” or “hi” in response.
Remember: You are trying to meet them, not just say “hi.”
Throw a party. Another great way to meet your neighbors is to have some type of social event and personally invite him, her or them. Each year our neighborhood has a Halloween potluck in front of our apartments and the houses. Not only is it a good way to meet your immediate neighbors but also the parents from the entire neighborhood.
Get Involved. Get involved in various events offered by the community, such as the tree lighting, summer picnic in the park or the neighborhood clean-up.
So get up, get out, and meet your neighbors! Have somebody fascinating or interesting you want to tell us all about? Please let us know!
