ATTEND THE ORNAMENT MAKING SESSIONS FOR THE HOLIDAY GIFT BAGS

Operation Holiday Heart Gift Bags, December 2022

In December, Rose Park Neighborhood Association teams up with Heart of Ida, a local nonprofit that supports Long Beach seniors in need with programs and services that sustain independence and connection within their community. The collaboration is a holiday project known as Operation Holiday Hearts,” which provides holiday gift bags of personal care packages to bring hope and joy to seniors during the holiday season.

You can participate at the following locations and upcoming events:

On Saturday, December 9th from 2pm to 4pm we will be in front of Envy Studio at 314 Elm Ave during East Village’s 2nd Saturday festivities. Come make an ornament for the senior gift bags or pick up a stocking stuffer that includes the makings of a unique “Hearts Across Long Beach” decoration – all materials included for a suggested donation of $5.

On Tuesday, December 12th from 5pm to 7pm we will be on the patio of The Good Bar at 3316 E 7th Street making ornaments for the senior gift bags. We hope you will join us to give back to the seniors living in our community. Residents of Lutheran Towers, Redondo Plaza and Edgewater Skilled Nursing Center will be recipients of the holiday gift bags. Questions? Email info@rpna.org.

On Saturday, December 16th from 11am to 2pm we will be at Orizaba Park for Winter Wonderland: a Community Concert and Resource Fair, hosted by Vice Mayor Allen. This event will feature a live DJ, real snow, toy give away, and free food for participants. Orizaba Park is located at 1435 Orizaba Avenue.

Roses for Rose Park Mural at Safe Refuge

Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers who joined us the weekend of November 11th to build community and connect with neighbors through the creation of the Roses for Rose Park Mural at Safe Refuge.

The Safe Refuge Mural is a neighborhood effort awarded to Rose Park Neighborhood Association, and in partnership with Roses for Rose Park Artist Cody Lusby. Special thanks to Janna Vanderberg for project organization and planning. This revitalization effort is funded by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to support approved programs and projects within CDBG eligible neighborhoods. These funds assist a variety of public service projects focused on one or more of the following: blight reduction, financial or employment training, crime awareness, fair housing, health services, and/or mental health services in CDBG-eligible areas to improve neighborhood conditions and revitalization efforts.

Stay tuned for more opportunities to take part in the creation of Roses for Rose Park Mural … Questions? Email info@rpna.org
