It was a fun filled day at Horace Mann Elementary School for the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Fair. Rose Park Neighborhood Association and Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association, Inc. teamed up with LB Skate Co to co-sponsor the construction of Mini Skateboard Ramps, provided by Keen Ramps.

The fair was held on Thursday, April 28 and featured many community organizations, and parent run booths with fun learning opportunities for the students ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade. There was plenty of food and lots of activities for the whole family to enjoy.

ArtWorksLBC Brings Mosaic Hearts to Burbank Elementary

Burbank Elementary teachers and staff create mosaic hearts.

Teachers and staff at Burbank Elementary took time in their Thursday afternoon meeting to create mosaic hearts with ArtWorksLBC Director, Dawn Mendelson. The idea to bring additional art projects to the school for teachers, staff and students was welcomed by Burbank Elementary Principal, Scott Fleming and the Hearts Across Long Beach project was a perfect place to start.

The Hearts Across Long Beach project began as a community wellness initiative for essential workers in response to COVID19, and will continue to be available for individuals and participating organizations for creation, connection, healing, and self expression.

The mosaic hearts created by Burbank Elementary teachers and staff will be collected and arranged as part of a larger community exhibit.

Thank you to Principal Fleming, teachers and staff of Burbank Elementary for participating!
