Street Safety Projects Continue in Rose Park Neighborhood

Rose Park Neighborhood Association was awarded 1 of 26 Mini-Grants by Go Human for the “State of the Neighborhood” project.

The Rose Park Neighborhood Association’s “State of the Neighborhood” project aims to increase awareness of the dangers of speeding, highlight pedestrian needs, and provide bicycling safety education for young residents. The “Ride Rodeo” at the Rose Park Neighborhood Block Party on Saturday, August 13th was the first of the project efforts with community partners including Tichenor Clinic for Children, the City of Long Beach Walk and Roll program, and the Long Beach Airport. The event offered tips on pedestrian and bicycle pathways, provided free helmets and safety checks, and considered the mobility needs of all individuals. Attendees entered into a raffle for chances to win a FREE trike, bike or scooter!

The upcoming Rose Park Neighborhood Community Meeting on Saturday, August 27th from 10am to 12pm at Rivera’s Restaurant will highlight neighborhood traffic safety trends and provide information on walking maps and local businesses.

The Go Human mini-grant program ‘aims to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety for those most harmed by traffic injuries and fatalities, including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color; people with disabilities; and frontline workers.!’ The Go Human Mini-Grant program was established by the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), an association of local governments and agencies that voluntarily convene as a forum to address regional issues.
