April 14th –On Saturday, April 14, a group of Long Beach ceramicists and garden enthusiasts are having a popup market at Urban Americana 1345 Coronado Ave, Long Beach, CA 90804 , and the Theodore Payne Foundation for Native Plants has generously donated two pairs of tickets to be given away for their tour that same weekend.   There’s quite a few gardens in Long Beach, San Pedro, Lakewood and other close-by South Bay Cities on the tour this year.   The tour is two days, both Saturday, April 14, and Sunday, April 15, and is always a great source of inspiration for plant selection and waterwise garden design, not to mention a fabulous opportunity to see some of our superstar Calif. natives in bloom, like the flannel bush/fremontodendron, ceanothus, and many more.

To be eligible for the tour giveaway, become followers of the Facebook or Instagram accounts of the Theodore Payne Foundation and Urban Americana if you’re not already,  leave a comment, and then let me know the name of your favorite Calif. native plant at the popup — it’s that simple.

Urban Americana opens their doors at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, and the outdoor popup starts at noon.  The two pairs of tickets will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis when the popup opens at noon, so have a look around the amazing vintage warehouse of UA while you’re waiting.  The early birds will get this prize worm!

The Saturday tour closes at 5 p.m. The tour resumes on Sunday 10-5.  It is a self-guided tour.  Maps and addresses will be given with your tickets.

Baker Creek Rare Heirloom Seeds has also promised to give away a free packet of seeds (while supplies last!), so be sure to ask about the seeds too.
